The palm trees were swaying, the cigars were being hand rolled and excitement filled the air as more than 50 of our most elite agents gathered in Miami on January 22. The sixth annual Tailor Made Networking Conference was quickly underway with a welcome event around the pool, and the magic began to unfold before our eyes. Each year, this event proves to remind us of the great things that can happen when agents and advisors meet to network, share ideas and collaborate on ways to build their businesses and top the previous year’s performance.

This East Coast destination was a perfect backdrop for the combination of hard-hitting sales concepts and business strategies presented with the relaxation and enjoyment expected from a Creative agent incentive trip. Keynote speaker Steve Harvill kicked off the event the following morning reminding attendees of the importance of getting back to basics and keeping the sales process simple. By tailoring his presentation to the industry and the specific challenges elite producers face, he won over the audience and provoked follow-up conversation that naturally led into the presentations that followed.

MORE THAN ONE GREAT IDEA

As Creative’s top three producers from 2011 prepared to present, the Tailor Made agents enthusiastically tuned in. Everyone in attendance wanted to hear how their peers have created and continue to maintain industry-leading multi-million dollar practices. As these three icons shared ideas on streamlining the systems in place for sales and tips on how they stay on top of their game, the day moved full speed ahead. Creative’s President Mike Tripses discussed the state of the industry, as well as challenges and opportunities attendees can expect in the days and months ahead. Robert Wingerter, Creative’s chief information officer, then showcased ways to incorporate tablet technology and apps into business for better interaction with clients and improved efficiencies throughout the sales process.
Several attendees were tasked with thinking of “One Great Idea” to share with fellow Tailor Mades, and this segment served as one of the most beneficial sessions from the trip. From client appreciation events and seminar opportunities to referral generation and the importance of coaching and mentoring in producer success, presenters didn’t fail to deliver exceptional ideas. Many attendees also participated in an ongoing focus group that allows these highly successful producers to stay connected throughout the year and continue to support one another through the implementation and modification of the ideas presented in their specific practices.

MORE THAN ONE GREAT EXPERIENCE

Amidst the presentations, the Tailor Made agents were able to enjoy deep sea fishing, a round of golf or relaxation treatments in the hotel spa. The second evening included a rooftop dinner with an incredible view overlooking the “Magic City” under gorgeous weather conditions. Several attendees then hit the Miami club scene and got to witness the filming of a new rap video from artist Flo Rida. The camaraderie and enthusiasm for spending time together and making memories that will last a lifetime was more than we could have anticipated. We have since heard from many that this was the most impressive Tailor Made Networking event yet.
