CreativeOne announced that Mike Tripses, partner and co-founder of the firm, is the recipient of the 2018 Bo Johnson Spirit Award for Lifetime Achievement from the National Association for Fixed Annuities (NAFA’s) Insurance Marketing Advisory Committee (IMAC). NAFA is an advocacy trade organization founded in 1998. Under Tripses’ leadership, CreativeOne has steadily grown and has provided best-in-class service to thousands of insurance and financial professionals.

The award, named posthumously for Bo Johnson, who served as the original chair of IMAC, recognizes industry standouts who serve as an inspiration to others, contribute to other professionals and their communities, are ethical and conscientious, dedicate themselves to improving the marketplace, and devote time to the advancement of fixed annuity products.

“He has not only the knowledge and experience, but he has the compassion,” said Mark Heitz, partner at CreativeOne. “And frankly, being someone who knew Bo Johnson, those were the qualities that Bo possessed. So, it’s completely appropriate Mike is receiving the 2018 Bo Johnson Spirit Award.”

Always an industry innovator, Tripses developed one of the first-ever fixed indexed annuities along with creating an interest-crediting method now offered on 47 percent of the fixed indexed annuities offered in the United States. He has presided over the creation and roll-out of more than 60 indexed annuities since 2007, alongside other industry-leading offerings and services.

Tripses spent 10 years as Chief Actuary at Integrated Resources Life and American Life and Casualty prior to joining CreativeOne — then named Creative Marketing — in 1996. Today, as a partner at the firm, he brings a full-service consulting and producer-centric approach to his work and continues to help guide the diversified financial services company. Also, he continues to inspire and innovate in the fixed annuity industry at large.

Tripses has served twice as Chairman of the Board of Directors for NAFA as well as on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Indexed Products. His leadership played a crucial role in the overturning of SEC Rule 151a, a rule which would have had a severe impact on the fixed indexed annuity industry and the American consumer. He is also an active member of the Society of Actuaries.
